LG KM335 - A Review

The cool-looking KM335 from LG’s Dynamite Series is one of the stunning phones from LG. This review is purely based on my experience with this phone and not just another ad to promote this product.

Features:

Dual stereo speaker system with 3D surround capabilities
3.0 Megapixel camera with flashlight. Supports zooming up to 4X with 16 zoom modes both for still and video camera
Wide LCD screen with a resolution of 240*320 pixels and 262k colours
Internal memory of 90 MB and a MicroSD slot that ensures a storage space up to 8 GB. A 1 GB card is included with this phone.
Supports both FM and AM Radio, with FM recording.
When you are receiving a call, message or other phone operations, you are notified via the “Stylish Rhythmic Light”. When you play music the lights dance with the tune.
It has a superb 1100 mAh Li-ion battery that offers ~ 600 hrs. standby time and ~ 9.5 hrs. talktime.
Anti Theft Mobile Tracking (ATMT) is enabled in this phone.

Somethings that are missing:

Spacious internal memory – but can only hold 300 messages!!!
The user interface is very slow.
It does not support multitasking eg. You cannot run a java application while playing music or radio. The music gets paused and will resume after you quit the application.
You cannot set your own message tone. You will have to choose from the inbuilt ones.
Only two themes are available – black and white. You cannot download any themes from the net.
Boring font style.
Cannot customize the home shortcuts

Everything inbuilt is protected. You cannot delete the inbuilt ringtones, message alerts, pictures and applications. I think only a very few files need to be protected for basic needs.
You cannot send multiple items via bluetooth. You’ve to do it one by one. Similarly multiple items cannot be moved to a folder.

Some problems faced by the users :

Unable to receive service multimedia messages
People are not able to install the PC suite

A few bugs:

If you change the 'Main Menu Style' to 'List', the main menu icon shown in the submenu are all mismatching ie. for 'Messaging' submenu, the 'Games and Applications' icon is shown, for 'Contacts' submenu, the 'Organiser' icon is shown and so on.

The biggest disadvantage that I found with this is that almost all of the Java MIDlets you find in the net are not supported by this phone. That urged me to create this blog where KM335 owners can download supported games for their set absolutely free.
